The Purpose of Proverbs

Published Date:
February 10, 2009

Many people know the value of studying the Book of Proverbs. Some have even suggested reading through the book once a month. But have you ever contemplated why the Book of Proverbs is so important?

Perhaps the answer to this can be found in the first six verses. Depending upon how you divide it up, we are given approximately ten reasons why we need this book. We find these reasons in verses 2-4. We also find the benefits offered to the simple, and to the young. Then in verse five, we find out how a wise man will handle these great truths. He will hear, and increase learning.

Are you always finding yourself in trouble? Do you constantly find yourself in sin without any warning signs? Are you tired of playing the part of the simple man? Perhaps you need to open your Bible and dig into the Book of Proverbs.
