The End of the Wicked (Daily Portion 10125)
Scripture Passage:
Psalm 73:15-28 The psalmist has been envious of the prosperity of the wicked (Psalm 73:3For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
See All...). In this passage, he entered the sanctuary and God revealed the end of the wicked. The psalmist realized his own foolishness, repented of his sin, and put his trust fully in the Lord.
What Does It Say?
- “When I thought to know this, it was too ___________ for me.”
- The wicked are brought into ___________ as in a __________.
- “Thou shalt guide me with thy __________, and afterward receive me to __________.”
- “Whom have I in __________ but thee? And there is none upon _________ that I desire beside thee.”
- The psalmist knew that it was good for him to _________ _________ to God.
What Does It Mean?
- How can God despising the image of the wicked be compared to one awaking from a dream (v.20)?
- In what ways was the psalmist “as a beast” (v.22)? What are some other ways in which often rise no higher than the level of animals?
- The psalmist stated, “I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works” (v.28). The wording indicates cause and effect. He can declare all God’s works because he has put his trust in Him. Why must we put our trust in the Lord before we can declare all His works? What is the connection?
What Does It Mean to Me?
- The psalmist was very troubled over the prosperity of the wicked until he went into the sanctuary of God and understood their end (v.17). What are some things you had trouble accepting until God showed you a deeper truth? What kind of knowledge would help us to see things God’s way?
- The psalmist declared, “My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever” (v.26). A portion is a part or share allotted to a person. In the Bible, it can refer to everything from a person’s portion of a meal to their portion of an inheritance. What does the psalmist mean when he says that God is his portion forever? In what way is God your portion? What should this mean to your spiritual walk?
