Unconditional Trust

Unconditional Trust - Job 13:15

INTRODUCTION

The Lord is faithful at all times, and He desires the trust of His people at all times. Perhaps nobody in the history of mankind, other than the Lord Jesus, endured the difficulties that Job endured. At the end of the day, Job ultimately knew that his trials were sent by the Lord. Would Job continue to trust the Lord who had taken his material wealth and his children? Or would Job, like many believers, turn from the Lord because of the presence of difficulty? Job’s answer is found in Job 13:15 where the Bible says, "Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him." Job determined he was not going to be a fair weather follower, he was going to trust the Lord unconditionally.

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS

  • (For smaller children) God promised Abraham that He would make a great nation from him through his son Isaac. Abraham trusted God completely when asked to do something that seemed to make this impossible (Hebrews 11:17-19).
  • Job said that he would trust the Lord, even if the Lord killed him. Could you say the same? What does it take to get you to cease from trusting in the Lord?
  • What trials have you endured that are greater than those endured by Job? If none, then why have you ceased to trust in the Lord? Will you renew your trust in the Lord?

PRAYER NEEDS

  • Ask the Lord to forgive you for wavering in your trust.
  • Thank the Lord for being faithful even when you are not.
