INTRODUCTION

Though the means of worldly safety have changed throughout time, people have always put their trust in various means of safety. In Bible times, people trusted in "fenced walls" (Deuteronomy 28:52And he shall besiege thee in all thy gates, until thy high and fenced walls come down, wherein thou trustedst, throughout all thy land: and he shall besiege thee in all thy gates throughout all thy land, which the LORD thy God hath given thee.

See All...). Now, people have come to place their trust in weapons, security systems, government, insurance policies, and medicine. Though the sources of trust have changed, the Lord is still just as grieved when men cast their trust upon the things of this world. Ultimately, every source of worldly safety will fail, often in the moment of greatest need.

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS

• Why does it displease the Lord when His people put their trust in this world for safety? How many people have had to find out the hard way that this world cannot be trusted?

• Ask the Lord to help you see that He is faithful.
• Ask God to show you the inability of the world to offer safety.
