The Purity of God’s Word - Psalm 12:6

INTRODUCTION

God is pure in every way, and as such, it follows that the words He speaks must also be pure. In Psalm 19:8, we read that "the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes." In Psalm 119:140, the writer says, "Thy word is very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it." Both of these verses speak of the word of God as a whole. In other words, the word of God in its entirety is without any foreign substance that would defile. In Psalm 12:6, we learn that the "words of the LORD are pure words." In case we might wonder which words, the Lord made sure to give us Proverbs 30:5 which says, "Every word of God is pure." The world wants us to believe that the Bible is defiled, but God says otherwise. Who will you believe?

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS

  • (For smaller children) We do not see God now, but one day we will. Until then, He wants us to read and believe the Bible just as much as if He were standing right in front of us and speaking to us. The Bible is the most important book you'll own.
  • What does it mean to you to think that the Bible is the pure word and words of God? Are you willing to accept God’s word as being free from error and the defilement of man?
  • The purity of God’s word should motivate believers to love it. Do you love the word of God? Do you spend time in it on a daily basis? Do you meditate on its contents throughout the day?

PRAYER NEEDS

  • Ask the Lord to help you accept every word of God as pure.
  • Ask God to give you a deeper love and appreciation for His word.
