Take Heed How You Build

Take Heed How You Build - 1 Corinthians 3:10-11

INTRODUCTION

By God’s grace, the apostle Paul laid the foundation of Jesus Christ and Him crucified. All that have come after the apostle Paul have built upon that foundation. It is with this in mind that Paul warned believers to take heed how they built upon the foundation. The foundation has been laid, and no other foundation can be laid, but each believer must carefully examine the means by which he builds upon Christ. Not only should believers take heed to their daily walk, but self-examination is also necessary in their manner of service for the Lord Jesus Christ. Each believer should search the scriptures to ensure that their efforts glorify the Lord.

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS

  • (For smaller children) Once a person is saved, he should live his life so others will also want to know God. He should depart from evil and do good (Psalm 34:14a; 2 Timothy 2:19; Ephesians 2:10; Titus 3:8).
  • Is your service for the Lord scriptural? Upon what verses do you base your work? Are you careful to consider the importance of the manner in which you serve?
  • What are some reasons why it is important that believers examine their service for the Lord? How can our service harm others? How can our work for the Lord help others in their labours?

PRAYER NEEDS

  • Ask God to guide you in building upon the foundation.
  • Ask the Lord to help you examine your labour for Him.
