Introduction:  In the last few years we have seen example after example of the wrath of storms.  Fifteen minutes of an intense storm can leave disaster for years to come.  Some recover and some do not.  So it is with sin.  The sin doesn’t have to be hovering over your life for long before it leaves devastating results.  Psalm 51 is written from the heart of a man who has lived through the storm of sin to tell about it, for it is generally agreed, this Psalm was written by David after he had sinned in taking Uriah’s wife and having Uriah killed.

1. The Wickedness of the Believer (Psalm 51:1-5 [1] Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. Conclusion:  Have you lost the sense of the havoc that sin wreaks on a person’s life?  Do you have remorse and conviction in your heart and soul when you have sinned against your redeemer?  Have you lost the joy of knowing God and drawing closer to Him?  Why don’t you open up your heart and pour it out to God?  He won’t scold you; rather He will show you the multitude of His tender mercies. Come back.  He’s waiting for you.
