Prepared for Spiritual Warfare

Scripture Passage:
2Corinthians 2:10-11
Attached audio files:

INTRODUCTION: The devices of the devil are those ways in which he works in our lives in order to lead us away from the will of God and into sin. They are his M.O. (that is, his modus operandi or mode of operation). We should be familiar with his devices and with the countermoves we can make when he attacks us.

  1. THE DEVICES OF THE DEVIL
    1. He Blinds the Minds of the Lost (2 Corinthians 4:3-4)
    2. He Comes as an Angel of Light (2 Corinthians 11:13-14)
    3. He Deceives the World with his Lies (Revelation 12:9; John 8:44)
      1. As he did with Eve in the garden (Genesis 3:1-6)
      2. So he does with believers today (2 Corinthians 11:3)
    4. He Turns our Attention Away From Himself (Ephesians 6:10-12; 2 Corinthians 10:3-4)
    5. He Accuses the Brethren to Turn us Against Them (Revelation 12:10)
      1. As he did with Job (Job 1:9-11; 2:4-5)
      2. So he does with believers today (2 Corinthains 2:10-11)
    6. By Casting Dart When our Faith is Low (Ephesians 6:16)
    7. By Attacking in Weak Places at Weak Times (1 Peter 5:8)
  2. DEALING WITH HIS DEVICES
    1. With Knowledge (2 Corinthians 2:11)
    2. With Preparation (Ephesians 6:11)
    3. With Watchfulness (1 Peter 5:8)
    4. With Resistance (James 4:7; Ephesians 4:27)
    5. With Faith (Ephesians 6:16)
    6. With the Spirit (Matthew 4:1; Galatians 5:16)
      1. In the power of a spiritual life (2 Corinthians 10:3-5)
      2. By calling on the Lord to defend you (Jude 1:9; 1 John 4:4)
    7. With Scripture (Matthew 4:3-4)

CONCLUSION: Can you see how Satan has worked on you in the past? Are you learning from your mistakes so that you can be a better soldier for Christ in the future? Satan is more powerful than we are but we have One greater than him in us. Will you look to him for help?

Final Instructions:

  • Ask God to reveal Satan’s devices against you
  • Ask God to guard you in your weak areas
  • Fight back when you are attacked
  • Trust the Lord to win the battle
  • Get back up when you are beaten
