Our Walk Among the Brethren
Introduction: Our walk in the world is important, but just as important is our walk among other believers. In this passage we find three points concerning our walk. If we could master these three points not only would it please the Lord, but it would also bring Him a great deal of glory, which we learned in the last chapter is the ultimate responsibility of the church throughout all ages.
- A WORTHY WALK (Ephesians 4:1I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,

See All...; 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12 [11] Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power: [12] That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

See All...) - It is a holy calling (2 Timothy 1:9Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,
See All...) - It is a heavenly calling (Hebrews 3:1Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;
See All...) - Walk Worthy of our Lord (Colossians 1:10That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
See All...; 1 Thessalonians 2:12That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.
See All...) - A WALK OF LOVE (Ephesians 4:2With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
See All...) - By Humility
- In lowliness
- In meekness
- By Enduring (Colossians 3:13-15 [13] Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
[14] And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.
[15] And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
See All...) - With longsuffering
- Forbearing one another
- By Esteeming
- Others highly for their labour (1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 [12] And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;
[13] And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves.
See All...) - Others higher than yourself (Philippians 2:3-4 [3] For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
[4] Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.
See All...) - A UNIFIED WALK (Ephesians 4:3Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
See All...) - Endeavoring to Keep
- The Unity of the Spirit
- The Lord prayed for unity of the believers (John 17:21That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
See All...) - Believers are to speak the same things (1 Corinthians 1:10Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
See All...) - Believers are to be likeminded (Romans 15:5-6 [5] Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus:
[6] That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
See All...; Philippians 2:2And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.
See All...) - The Bond of Peace
Conclusion: Are you walking worthy of the Lord? He paid a great price for you and He deserves your very best. Are you walking in love toward other believers? Are you walking in unity with those in this congregation of believers? These three things would greatly alter your life for the Lord and would be sure to bring great reward at the time of judgment. How is your walk today?
