Meditation Becomes Conversation

Meditation Becomes Conversation - Psalm 77:12

INTRODUCTION

When a believer meditates upon the things of God, those truths become planted in the heart. Eventually, the contents of the heart come out of the mouth (Luke 6:45). Therefore, it is safe to say that the meditations of our heart will eventually be the words of our conversations. This is exactly the truth conveyed by Asaph in our passage. He understood that meditation upon the work of God would eventually cause him to talk of God’s doings. It is right for God’s people to speak truth, especially when it concerns testifying to the truth of God’s holy words, yet this is not possible unless a believer first hides the words of God in his heart (Psalm 119:11), and one way to do so is by meditation.

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS

  • (For smaller children) In Psalm 143:5, David said he meditated on all of God's works. The result of this meditation is found in Psalm 145:4-6. Why should this be important to us?
  • Knowing the truths covered in this study, why is it so important that we meditate upon the right things? What happens when we spend our time meditating upon worldly things?
  • About what do you enjoy talking with others? Why do you enjoy speaking of those subjects? Are these things the source of your meditation? Does this please the Lord?

PRAYER NEEDS

  • Ask the Lord to help you please Him in your meditation.
  • Ask the Lord to help you see the outcome of your meditation.
