Have No Fellowship
See All...
INTRODUCTION
What does the Bible mean when it says to "have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness"? Does this mean that believers should never speak to the lost? The word fellowship is a compound word made up of two parts. A careful Bible study of the root word fellow will indicate that it involves two people working as one (John 11:16Then said Thomas, which is called Didymus, unto his fellowdisciples, Let us also go, that we may die with him.
See All...; 3 John 1:8We therefore ought to receive such, that we might be fellowhelpers to the truth.
See All...). This truth is confirmed when the Bible says believers and unbelievers should not be "unequally yoked together" (2 Corinthians 6:14Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
See All...). When two are yoked together they are united in work. The saved should never unite with the lost in such matters. Perhaps most importantly, they should never yoke up in order to do God’s work (Ezra 4:3But Zerubbabel, and Jeshua, and the rest of the chief of the fathers of Israel, said unto them, Ye have nothing to do with us to build an house unto our God; but we ourselves together will build unto the LORD God of Israel, as king Cyrus the king of Persia hath commanded us.

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
- (For smaller children) King Jehoshaphat agreed to help wicked King Ahab fight the Syrians. He received a harsh rebuke from the Lord through the prophet Jehu (2 Chronicles 19:1-2 [1] And Jehoshaphat the king of Judah returned to his house in peace to Jerusalem.
[2] And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to king Jehoshaphat, Shouldest thou help the ungodly, and love them that hate the LORD? therefore is wrath upon thee from before the LORD.
See All...). - What are some areas where fellowship should be severed? Is it scriptural for the saved to take aid from the world in order to accomplish the work of God (Genesis 14:21-24 [21] And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself.
[22] And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the LORD, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth,
[23] That I will not take from a thread even to a shoelatchet, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich:
[24] Save only that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men which went with me, Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre; let them take their portion.
See All...; 3 John 1:7Because that for his name's sake they went forth, taking nothing of the Gentiles.
See All...)? - Are you yoked up with the world? Are you fighting along side of them for the same goals? Do you need to brake away from their yoke and separate yourself unto the Lord?
PRAYER NEEDS
- Ask the Lord to help you see when you are yoked with the lost.
- Ask the Lord to continue to teach you biblical separation.
