God Knows Your Thoughts

God Knows Your Thoughts - Psalm 94:11

INTRODUCTION

Man is foolish when he thinks that he can hide his thought life from the Lord. The Lord knows all man’s thoughts (1 Chronicles 28:9); the good (Malachi 3:16) and the bad (Psalm 94:11). David expressed this truth to the Lord when he said, "Thou knowest . . . my thought afar off. . . . For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether" (Psalm 139:2-4). The Lord Jesus often exemplified this ability during His earthly ministry (Matthew 12:25; Luke 5:22; Luke 6:8; Luke 9:47; Luke 11:17). Even the written word of God exemplifies this ability by being "a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart" (Hebrews 4:12).

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS

  • (For smaller children) We can hide what we're thinking from other people, but we can't hide it from God. Read Job 42:1-2. Read what Job did when he realized God wasn't pleased with his thinking (Job 42:6). That was his way of telling God he was sorry.
  • What are you thinking about right now? Are you thinking about some of the bad thoughts you have had, wondering if God knows about them? He does!
  • Why is it important that we yield our thought life to the Lord? How can our impure thoughts grieve the Lord? What blessings can come from God’s knowledge of our righteous thoughts?

PRAYER NEEDS

  • Ask the Lord to forgive you for your unclean thoughts.
  • Ask God to help you remember that He knows your thoughts.
